Professional Cedar Roof Cleaning & Sealing In Minneapolis & St. Paul

When properly cared for, they are among the most beautiful, which is why cleaning and maintaining your cedar roof is essential to extending the life of your roof and to maintaining its beauty. Algae and moss must be prevented from growing and damaging your cedar roof. The effects of algae, moss and weather have a devastating effect on cedar roofs.

The Power Washers of North America have certified us in wood restoration. Our employees, not subcontractors, will take the time needed to complete your project correctly.

Once the bark is taken off the tree, the wood has no way of protecting itself. The damaging effects of weather to unprotected wood can begin immediately. Rain, melting snow and morning dew are quickly absorbed by unprotected wood causing it to swell. The sun’s heat causes drying, which makes the wood shrink. These cycles of wet and dry, swelling and shrinking, cause wood to warp, split, cup and crack – all of which lead to shortened wood life and expensive repairs and replacement. Having your roof cleaned and sealed can double the life of your cedar roof.

Our Process Includes These Important Steps

  • We provide a written quote explaining all the work to be done.
  • We begin by applying a cleaning solution that kills, loosens and lifts the moss, algae and dirt that are marring and discoloring your roof.
  • Next, we carefully wash the roof with a power washer removing the dead moss, algae, dirt and debris.
  • The roof is then treated with a neutralizing agent that will brighten the wood and prepare it for our sealer/stain.
  • We return and replace any shingles that are missing or broken (up to 50 are included). We will also tap in any loose staples and nails.
  • We inspect flashing and skylights and re-caulk where needed.
  • Before sealing/staining we test the wood with an electronic moisture meter to insure the wood is dry. The moisture content of the wood must be 16% or less to allow the sealer/stain to bond properly.
  • We seal/stain your roof with a preservative that protects against the sun’s UV rays and also protects against algae and moss.
  • We stand behind our work with a 3 year prorated limited warranty.
